The Launch

July 31st, 2008 | Category: Blog, Jay

I looked at the time as I checked my email last night, 12:34am, then it clicked. 10DollarBets.com goes live today!

I would like to officially welcome you to our humble home on the Interwebs. On this site you will be partaking (hopefully) on a knee-slappin, eye-watering, hoot-n-hollaring good time as you watch Samm and I humiliate ourselves while doing ridiculous stunts. For the launch of this new website we will be re-releasing (very soon) old 10-Dollar Bets with written and possibly video commentaries on our thoughts for making the bets, and thoughts while doing the bets. We will be adding new bets as they come and update you on our lives in the process. So stay tuned!

For now, please enjoy the Hula, our latest 10-Dollar Bet.

$10 Bet - Hula

July 08th, 2008 | Category: 10 Dollar Bet, Jay

It was a Tuesday afternoon, Samm and I just got off the plane from Edmonton to wait for our connecting flight in Calgary. We sat around the terminal doing some people-watching. You see a lot of people that come in and out of the airport. Some are businessmen/businesswomen, some are families coming or going on vacation.  But there are some things you don’t usually see at an airport,  like a person playing with a hula hoop! I had glanced over and noticed one of the Westjet workers trying to do the hula but was unsuccessful.  I then realized my opportunity! I quickly got Samm’s attention and said the magical words. “ten bucks…”. He wanted confirmation to make it official and so I gave it to him.

“Ten bucks if you go and ask the lady for a hula hoop and then do the hula 5 times.”

The rest is history and for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

(I couldn’t hear the actual conversation so the subtitles is what I think went on between Samm and Westjet Lady)

On a sidenote, I did have the $10 for quite a while and had a few opportunities to use them. However I showed mercy on Samm as some of my ideas were a bit too much for him to handle. He may say otherwise but I know that he’s glad I didn’t go through with them. Maybe I won’t be so merciful next time. Haha….
