I had held the ten dollars for a few weeks, and I still hadn’t gotten used to the power that that ten dollar bill holds.  I simply saw the 10db as a way of amusing myself, and those around us…

It was yet another sunny Saturday at the softball diamond.  We had just finished playing, and the heat was starting to get to all of us.  Someone had brought a cooler filled with ice to keep our drinks cold, and I saw that as an opportunity to get back at Jay for making me kiss a man.

It was a bright, sunny Saturday afternoon, and a perfect day to have a softball kick-off BBQ at the park. After the Samosa Sauce bet back in March it was now my turn to bet Samm. It was also my first time making a bet so I wanted to make it good.

Being one of the organizers of the kick-off, we had to squat for the park shelter because it couldn’t be reserved. So a few friends and I went to the park at around 7:00am. I wanted to make the bet during the kick-off because there would be a lot of people coming and the larger the crowd for a bet, the better! I began to think of bets during the wee hours of the morning but nothing good was coming to mind. Then the kick-off started and I was too occupied to think of a bet. A couple of hours later when the kick-off finished, everyone left the park with their golden tans and full bellies, and I was left disappointed that I didn’t come up with anything. There was a small group of us left just hanging out in the shelter, finishing up the food and enjoying each others company. Then it dawned on me that it was our friend Wilfred’s birthday and immediately the light bulb turned on for the idea of the bet.

After many international business meetings with numerous international business men, we here at 10DollarBets.com have made the decision to officially make Tuesdays “10-Dollar Bet Tuesdays”. This means that we will try to release one classic 10DB with commentary each Tuesday until we run out. What will happen when we run out, you say? Well, we’ll figure that out when the time comes.

Jay and I had joked about making each other do $10 bets before, but had never really followed through with it.  I like to think the reason for this was two-fold: 1) because we both knew in the back of our minds that once it started, it would probably never end 2) we also knew that with each bet, the task we’d be required to perform would escalade from the silly to the embarrassing to the totally outrageous.  I’m not sure why I decided to officially start the $10 bet, but it was this fateful night in March that it all began.
We were celebrating our friend Kim’s birthday, and we had had some samosas for supper.  The samosas had come with some dipping sauce, and by the end of the meal, there was still half a styrofoam container full of the stuff.  I can’t remember for sure, but I don’t think I’d actually gotten Kim anything for her birthday, and I decided on the spot that seeing Jay drink the rest of the samosa sauce would be the perfect gift for her.

“Ten bucks if you drink the rest of the samosa sauce.”

And THAT, girls and boys, is how it all began…
