$10 Bet - Queen
If you know Samm, you’d probably know that he’s a man of tees. He’s got a tee with a bloody heart on it, and a tee with a frowning robot. He’s even got a tee with unicorn excreting marshmallows… and when he doesn’t have a tee to wear, he’ll just draw something on his chest. Anyway, during our vacation to Disney Wolrd we wanted to get some souvenirs for family and friends back home. We went into several different shops but usually came out empty handed. But in this one show there was a particular t-shirt that caught my eye. Who would have thought an XL Girls t-shirt would fit Samm so perfectly?

Feeling lazy
It’s my turn to update, but I’m feeling lazy. I wrote the final exam for my night class last night and so I think I’m entitled to a day to veg. Till next week!

$10 Bet - Belle Dress
While we were at Disney, we found that the customer service was AWESOME, and all the Disney employees were all very helpful (oh, Svetlana). During our first full day in Florida, I wanted to test just how professional the Disney staff was.
While we were walking around Magic Kingdom, every once in a while, we would see some little girl running around wearing a little princess dress. The four of us thought it was kind of ridiculous, cuz there’s pretty much no other appropriate time when a kid could wear that dress (Halloween…The Prom…?) outside of Disney World. We ended up finding the store in Disney where they sell the dresses, and that’s where I came up with this bet. It can only be described as being absolutely MAGICAL.
PS Check out Jay’s site if you want to see more pictures from the Floridays

$10 Bet - Mickey
After the weak bets from both of us, I wanted to think of something original for the next bet. A couple days after the cake bet, Samm, myself, and a couple of our friends, Joe and Joe, booked a trip to Disney World in sunny Orlando, Florida. We dubbed the name of the trip as “The Floridays” and over the next few weeks you’ll be seeing bets from the trip as we tried to do one each day.
Anyway, back to this bet. There wasn’t really a time and place over the next couple months where I felt a 10DB would be appropriate until the day we left for Florida. As we waited in the Winnipeg Airport to board our plane, a song popped into my head. “I’m leaving on a jet plane, I don’t know when I’ll be back again”. I told Samm that I’m going to bet him to sing the verse and chorus of that song in the middle of the hall filled with vacationers, business people, and probably International Businessmen! HOWEVER, he made a LAME excuse about not knowing the words to the song… c’mon… I think he was just a bit stage-fright. So whatever, I told him that I would get him back later. As we arrived in Florida, we settled into our hotel and decided to go get some food. We passed a TGIFriday’s on the way to the resort and decided that it would be a good place to eat. After giving the waitress our orders, we were just chatting then out of nowhere another song popped into my head and then the idea of the next bet was born!

$10 Bet - Evolution of Rules
Sorry for being tardy on the bet this week. I was actually going to post these bets last week but I had to re-think it a bit. Samm and I weren’t sure if we wanted to post these weak-sauce bets. I’ll explain the reasoning behind it. One of our 10DB rules states that we can’t make bets that may cause or potentally cause the betee to get arrested. Now this may seem pretty extreme but you never know how people are going to react nowadays. So after a couple of these types of bets we figured that it’s probably a good idea to not make bets involving touching people, especially strangers. Besides, the bets usually don’t end up how we envision it anyway, just like these ones…

Updates… where are the updates?
Alright, I know… I’ve been a slacker. I’m taking a class on Monday nights and by the time I get home I’m pretty wiped. I usually just veg and forget about putting up a retro 10DB. I would update when I get home from work today but I’ll be going out to watch the Jabbawockeez live! I’ll try to upload something afterwards.
later!

$10 Bet - Diggnation
Samm and I have talked about dressing up as Kevin Rose & Alex Albrecht, the hosts of the podcast diggnation, for about a week now. We wanted to do something that would catch the attention of the people that scan through the hundreds and maybe thousands of emails they get weekly. It had to be unique. I’m not sure if it’s a requirement but they seem to show pictures of fans wearing a Diggnation shirt. Since we didn’t have access to fighter jets or anything with a wow factor to take a picture with, we thought being them with an added Canadian twist (note the Cdn coloured shirts and Cdn beer, eh?) might do the trick. As we were coming up with ideas I kept one to myself… well not really… but he thought I was only kidding… hahah…..

It’s A Bit Chilly…
So…Jay’s over right now, and we’re doing up some Halloween costumes. He just pulled out the $10. I’m trying to think of some words to describe what I’m feeling right now…but…there are no words…
Just to take a break from the usual retro 10db’s, we’ll post this new one on Tuesday instead.

$10 Dollar Bet - Lotion
Boys get bored easily. When boys get bored, they like to invent games for themselves. I’m not sure how or when it happened, but a few of us started a game called “Lotion Wars” or “Lotion Fights”. It’s simple - smear lotion on each other when they least expect it (preferably on the face or head area). This 10db was a spin off that game.
It was a clear May afternoon. We were about to run the LCC (an annual 10 km race that a bunch of friends put together) when I thought, “Man…we haven’t played Lotion Wars in a while”.  And I recalled the fond memories of trying to lotion Jay’s face while he was sleeping when we were in Calgary…or the time I snuck some lotion into my cousin’s potato salad, which resulted in the story referred to as “the time Ding ate lotion”. That’s when I decided that it was time for Pastor Steve to join Lotion Wars.

$10 Bet - Movie
If you know me, you probably know that I am a collector of Air Miles. It’s a rewards program where you collect points and after so many points you can redeem them for a flight, an electronic gadget, gift cards, etc. A few days prior to the 10DB I went to my local Safeway to pick up an Air Miles deal. It was a Mix’n Match “Buy 5 General Mills products and receive 50 Air Miles” promo. So I picked up some granola bars, fruit snacks, and a couple of boxes of cereal. On the cereal box, General Mills was also having a promotion. They were giving away free movie admissions inside the box. But of course I forgot to read the fine print before making the bet. The rest is history. Enjoy!
